Presentation

With the planet on his mind!

The Canadian born Benoît Pernaudeau has worked for a long time behind the scenes alongside skippers setting out on round the world trips. He knows every inch of the boats having prepared them and got them ready for the race around the three capes, and is overjoyed today to have his own ticket… to go around the world!
His fellow sea dogs know Benoît Parnaudeau as a man, who sees things through. Right to the ends of the Earth (he has sailed in the Antarctic), and to the conclusion of his projects (during the 2001 Mini-Transat, he finished 11th in Salvador at the helm of a little gem that he had built himself, in spite of losing his mast) while fully honouring his beliefs. A campaigner for sailing while respecting the environment, committed to fair trade, he lives in La Rochelle, where he set up with his friends « Quai 17 Challenges », a socially responsible co-operative dedicated to ocean yachting.

« For 8 years, I worked for Isabelle Autissier, Christophe Auguin and Didier Munduteguy. I prepared their boats, so they could sail in good conditions around the world. Today, it’s my turn to face up to the waves, the giant waves in the Southern oceans that I’ve only ever heard of before. It’s true that my boat is fourteen years old and is unlikely to win, but I shall be trying my best to set the sails correctly, to choose the best course and at the same time take advantage of the publicity surrounding this race to spread my beliefs. Environmental protection and fair trade, which are two major questions for this planet that I’m about to go around. » Benoît has said it all!
