Vendée Globe medals

« I am from Vendée and proud of it! », proclaims François Blanchet, editor-in-chief of Monnaie Magazine, France’s leading numismatic monthly magazine. Based in La Mothe-Achard, in the middle of Vendée, the « Editions de la Monnaie » publishing company had the original idea of issuing this 34-millimetre medal featuring an IMOCA monohull and the logo of the 2012-2013 edition.

The medal will cost 2 euros and will be available in two vending machines throughout the race: One located in the Vendée Globe Village and the other on the Sables d’Olonne City Hall square.

« 10,000 medals have been stricken. Is it too much? Or not enough? We’ll see, but this is a first! », says François Blanchet.
