Paprec-Virbac 2 at the Horn with a lead of 1000 miles

Jean-Pierre Dick and Damian Foxall rounded Cape Horn on Thursday 10th January, after two months of sailing and remain in the lead of the Barcelona World Race, a position they have been in since Vincent Riou and Sébastien Josse’s PRB was forced to retire, which was before facing the ravages of the deep south.
Paprec-Virbac 2 is making her way back into the Atlantic with a very comfortable lead of around 1000 miles over Hugo Boss, the first of the four coming along behind in this two-handed round the world race marked by 4 retirals: PRB, Delta Dore, Veolia Environnement and Estrella Damm. We can add that Jean-Pierre Dick’s boat is a very close cousin – almost the sistership of Gitana Eighty, the monohull Loïck Peyron sailed to victory in the Transat BtoB. This means we can look forward to another great match, when they set off single-handed in the Vendée Globe in ten months time on board these very same boats.
