Parallel Lines
News
December 02. 2008 at 11:41Riding on the leading edge of a modest front the leaders are on parallel courses for the time being, Seb Josse still leading on BT, but Generali now takes second place.
With the leaders racing parallel courses, about 100 miles of lateral separation from Yann Eliès and Armel le Cléac’h in the north to Jean-Pierre Dick in the south, there has been a minor reshuffle but Seb Josse – in his fourth day at the top of the standings - still leads by about 40 miles.
Up to second is Yann Eliès (Generali), who lead briefly at the weekend, while Loïck Peyron (Gitana Eighty) is now measured at 60 miles behind leader Josse. Peyron is now one of the more southerly boats in the leading pack, but just 8.4 miles in terms of DTF separates third from seventh. Vincent Riou (PRB) is now sixth, from fourth early this morning.
Mike Golding in eighth on Ecover 3 has made up about five miles on seventh place which is now Armel Le Cléac’h (Brit Air) on the 1000 hrs standings.
Michel Desjoyeaux (Foncia) has lost about nine miles to tenth placed Safran, admitting this morning that he cannot sustain the same pace all the time, and helmed Foncia himself for about 21 hours yesterday.
Despite hitting a large sea mammal yesterday, thought to be a whale, Jonny Malbon, GBR, (Artemis II) is applying himself to holding off Bernard Stamm (Cheminées Poujoulat) who is just ten miles to his north east, while Malbon has also just three miles to make up on Steve White, GB (Toe in the Water).
