Marc Guillemot left his temporary haven in the Falklands Islands at 1630hrs GMT six and a half hours after his arrival. He is making eight and a half knots and has made more than 30 miles since his departure.

Brian Thompson is now less than 100 miles to Cape Horn and is closing fast, second quickest boat in the fleet at 14.9 knots this evening, so should go round between 3am and 6am GMT all being well.

Dee Caffari is 54 miles behind Arnaud Boissieres and 176 miles behind Thompson this evening and so they should round Thursday evening.

Steve White is setting a roaring pace on Toe in the Water, 15.8 knots. While he was not especially looking forward to the stronger 45-50 knots winds he was expecting, he did make the point today that in many respects such conditions are better and easier for him and his boat, rather than straining everything to get more out of Toe in the Water in 27 or 28 knots. Rich Wilson is about 818 miles now to the final ice gate while Norbert Sedlacek is back on a solid SE’ly course, making 7.6 knots.
