It looks like Roland Jourdain may be about to take his medicine in the Doldrums, slowing this evening to less than nine knots. But he can be reasonably happy with his gains since the end of the weekend, now just under 314 miles behind Foncia.

And while Mich Desj is making good his advantage, getting progressively into the  tradewinds and accelerating again, it is hard to predict what the net effect of the Doldrums will be on Bilou.

But while the trade winds look well organised and Mich Desj should be able to regain a lot of his lost miles from the last couple of days, up ahead the Azores High is playing funny games and could bar his route in a week’s time, but that is a long way off yet.

Marc Guillemot is going well close to the Brasilian coast and is fastest this evening, making 17.8 knots while Sam Davies is now back up to 13.3 knots.

Brian Thompson’s lead over Dee Caffari is still at a consistent 78 miles, while Dee has 83 miles in hand over Arnaud Boissières.
