Arnaud Boissières has a narrow corridor of breeze which he is following north, a fortuitous chance to finally make some easier miles back to the finish on Akena Vérandas. He had 748 miles to the finish and was making the best part of 12 knots.

At some point soon he will have to make the choice if he is going to go west and try to breach the light, contrary winds of the high, or stay north and go round it. But certainly things are a lot easier today for Cali.

Steve White on Toe in the Water is following the same track as Akena Vérandas and is about 150 miles to the Azores. He has dropped a few more miles on Cali, but is making a better course than yesterday and will pass just to the west of the Azores some time tomorrow. Like Boissières Steve is starting to run low on fuel, but noted again yesterday that he has enough food to go round again, or to have taken someone else with him.

Rich Wilson is into the brisk trades 850 miles to the south west of the Cape Verdes and he has been lifted again now that he has passed into the NE’lies rather than the N’ly he had yesterday which was giving him grief, and forcing him to head for Mexico rather than France. The trades are well established for him and while it will be uncomfortable for the next three or four days, Great American III is making what should be regular miles to the finish.

Raphael Dinelli (Fondation Océan Vital) is making between 10 and 11 knots, 230 miles off the Brasilian coast, while Norbert Sedlacek, AUT, (Nauticsport-Kapsch) in 15 knot E’lies and making 9-10 knots, good progress for him under double reefed main with no headsails.
