After winning the Rolex Fastnet in the IMOCA class, Sébastien Josse could not hide his satisfaction this morning in Plymouth, as with less than three months to go to the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre, this victory comes at just the right time for the French sailor.
Sébastien Josse (BT) : "That's great! There are two really happy man onboard BT this morning! It has been a really good race, a close battle with the five leading boats and really good sailing conditions. This first place secures our hopes and objectives for the Transat Jacques Vabre. BT is a fast boat, Jeff and I are doing really well together onboard and our motivation has never been so high. We rounded the Fastnet rock in second but I knew that we would be faster downwind and it's exactly what happened. Being two onboard means that we are much slower in the manoeuvres, which was the case in the Solent after the start, we had to do something like 10 gybes, but after that it was fine. We balanced that lack of people with good tactics and decisions at the right time."
Sébastien Josse and Jean-François Cuzon will now be heading back to base in Port-La-Foret in Brittany. BT will be going into the shed for a couple of weeks in order to do a full check of the hull, mast and keel and after the duo will focus on training for the Transat Jacques Vabre, which is due to start in Le Havre on 8th November.
