SODEBO stands by the skippers

This year, SODEBO is a Vendée Globe partner for the third edition in a row and has decided to put the know-how of its Innovation & Development team to good use and help the 20 skippers who will be at the start of the race on November 10.
Food is one of the most crucial parts of the sailors’ preparation as they are about to start their Vendée Globe adventure. As a partner of the race for the third consecutive time, SODEBO knows it better than any other sponsor and has decided to offer a various range of frozen-dried dishes as well as long-life milk to the 20 skippers at the start of this seventh edition. They got to chose from a list of 50 different dishes developed by the Innovation & Development lab of the Vendée-based company. Knuckle of pork with lentils, fish risotto, mashed vegetable and beef, potatoes and ham or fusilli carbonara… 11 of the 20 skippers who chose to take SODEBO dishes with them had an abundance of choices and long-life traditional bread slices and little muesli breads were also part of the offer.
SODEBO’s Innovation & Development lab started getting enthusiastically involved in this project. The company’s cooks were used to work on that kind of product since SODEBO is also Thomas Coville’s partner. As he was not satisfied with the tasteless frozen-dried food available on the market, the skipper of the SODEBO maxi-trimaran had already asked them to develop food for him. Cooks focused on taste but also on the nutritive and vitamin qualities of the ingredients. In a continuous effort to match the sailors’ needs, the lab also packaged the food in 120-gram bags to save as much weight as possible as food and weight are definitely the skipper’s two main concerns before a race like the Vendée Globe.
