Has there been any discussion about flaws in the outrigger design? It seems the stays are located such that if you are unlucky enough to hit something, they could be damaged. I realize running into a rouge buoy is fairly bad luck, but seems like the race has seen a number of collisions (not sure if this edition is on par with prior ones).

there are a lot of english people that do not understand Frech but love to follow the vendee race,what has happend to the english transmission.I was always told the intrenational languge was english

So sorry to lose you from the race. With your practical knowledge of the boat and sailing expertise, I had chosen you for the winner this year. Amazing that the accident would be some freak thing that shouldn't have happened and was something you couldn't repair alone. Rather you be safe to race in the next edition though.

NOOO! My heart is BROKEN! I waited 4 years to watch you race again. I am so very sad but you made a wise decision. I would rather cry now for this than for something serious to happen to you in the Southern Ocean. I could not take that. You are still my HERO! Sorry I do not speak French.
