Last night around 01.30AM, ENERGA, skippered by Zbigniew "Gutek" Gutkowski, safely moored in the Santa Cruz marina in Tenerife, Canary Islands. After Wednesday’s tough decision to retire from the Vendee Globe, Gutek was looking for a safe shelter on shore. Along with his boat captain Maciek Marczewski, Gutek is curretly inspecting his boat, trying to determine the causes of the electronics failure. He will soon be able to make decisions regarding where the repairs should be carried out and when he could come back to Poland.

“Now the most important thing for me is my boat”, Gutek said on Thusday.

“This girl is fantastic, having such great power and speed. I hope to sail her soon again. Apart from the electronics issues, she’s 100% OK.”

“I am very happy to be safe here, I’m still very tired after the last days of continuous efforts and stress. We are facing important decisions now, but it’s too early to speak about that. First I need to take care of my boat, ad next I'll look after myself”, he added.

On an ongoing basis
