Monday noon to 11:48 GMT (24:48 French time), Armel Le Cléac'h (Banque Populaire) was the first skipper of the Vendée Globe fleet to cross the longitude of the Cape of Good Hope. The French sailor, current leader of the round the world single-handed race, nonstop and unassisted, establishes a new reference time between Les Sables d'Olonne and the Cape of Good Hope with 22d 23h 48 '; and clears the 24d 02h 18' of Vincent Riou in 2004. As a reminder, four years ago, Sébastien Josse (onboard BT), had crossed the Cape of Good Hope in 26d 19h 38 '.
