Jean-Baptiste Dejeanty will be setting out at the start of the next Vendée Globe on Saturday 10th November 2012. The sailor based in Lorient, has just announced he will be taking part in the next non-stop solo round the world race. Thanks to a sponsorship lasting five years he will be competing in the 2012-2013, as well as the 2016-2017 Vendée Globe.
His new sponsor whose name will be announced shortly at an official presentation wants to take advantage of the communication possibilities offered by sailing with a young, yet experienced, sailor. Jean-Baptiste’s character and career path convinced them to take part in this round the world adventure alongside him.
Committed for 5 years
With a headline partner for 5 years, Jean-Baptiste Dejeanty’s contract means he can look forward to a clear future as an ocean racer. On 10th November next year he will be setting out on his second Vendée Globe from Les Sables d’Olonne.
This contract also means he can note down the dates of the 2016 race in his diary. Jean-Baptiste Dejeanty: “I’m really pleased to be able to set off around the world again in another Vendée Globe and this time can look forward to it much more calmly. I will be able to count on my experience from 2008 and this partnership signed for 5 years will enable me to settle into the IMOCA circuit with a solid budget in place. My current priority is to set up a team and the logistics around the project to be up and running as soon as possible. I’d like to thank all those, who have enabled my hard work to come to something and also thanks to the SAEM Vendée for their help and support, which have been very useful.”
