The remains of the front
Weather
November 26. 2008As the long voyage approaching the South Atlantic continues, the 14 frontrunners will be encountering the remains of a front in the next 36 hours.
These remains of the front can significantly affect the easterly-south-easterly winds blowing at 13 to 17 knots. In fact the wind could shift by a few dozen degrees and gusts could exceed by ten knots the average wind on the edge of the squalls.
These unstable wind conditions will be replaced by a fading wind as they approach the high.
The upwind route towards the south in heavy seas will continue for a few days, which will be long enough for the ten at the rear, who will also have to sail a long way south to pick up the strong easterly-south-easterly trade winds.
