Strong winds and cross seas for everyone
Weather
December 17. 2008The second set of gales with gusts reaching 50 to 60 knots is gradually moving up the fleet. After these strong winds pass over, the westerly winds should temporarily be easing off to 25-35 knots. However, they will strengthen again and while the tail-enders had a break of 36 hours, this is not the case at the front. A low to the south of Madagascar will move eastwards bringing more rough weather. This system went by R. Dinelli and N. Sedlacek last night. The sea state will worsen. when the sea and swell go in different directions, cross seas result, which are not favourable for high speeds or technical intervention on the boats. This is likely to last for several days and boats will have to move a long way north to avoid these viloent winds and high seas..
