No real changes for Christmas Day

The low pressure coming down from New Zealand is deepening as it passes over the leaders to move south eastwards. Thus on Friday and Saturday it is a storm (force 10) which will be developing to the south of the leading group in the Furious Fifties.
The system between New Zealand and Tasmania may well be smaller, but is no less difficult to negotiate as it is also producing Northerly winds on the boats' trajectory. For the competitors still in the Indian, the wind is continuing to blow at least for the next two days. It will only be on Sunday that a calm period will reach the tail-enders.
