A slight calm with 30 knots of wind for the leaders before a small thundery low moves in from the west with squalls in excess of fifty knots this evening! That is what faces the leaders for the next 24h.

Having made her way out of the high, Paprec should be able to sail downwind at a quicker speed in the same system as Roxy.

A temporary calm between these two warm fronts appeared this morning (at night out there) and should last around 12 hours to the south of New Zealand. However, another thundery low is moving in from Australia and will bring 30-35 knot winds gusting to 50 knots tonight (at daybreak their time).

To the south of Cape Leeuwin a low is developing and will be generating winds gusting to 60 knots as it moves eastwards. This new area of strong winds will catch Akena, Aviva and Pindar in the next 24 hours. Further west, the systems continue to pass through with gales and severe gales lasting for periods of 30 hours. The first major calm is due to reach the two tail-enders on Sunday morning.
