Today (Wednesday 7th January) the whole of the Vendée Globe fleet is sailing in moderate to fairly strong winds (30 knots max) and some are even in light winds below 10 knots. For most of the boats, it is a day of transition as they sail between two systems.
The duo at the front are having to deal with two highs lying ahead of their bows off the coast of Argentina, which are stopping them from sailing directly towards the north.
In the Pacific, all of the lows are along way south and the northern edges of the fronts are temporarily leading to a strengthening of the wind. The highs are a long way south and the calms are stretching from east to west between 40S and 45S over the Pacific.
