A new low moving in

It is in a fairly active NW’ly airstream that Foncia is speeding towards the Bay of Biscay. However, this system is moving more quickly and so it will be under the influence of the next low with upwind sailing in E’ly to SE’ly winds that the boat will head home to Les Sables d'Olonne. This new system with violent winds will be passing a long way north of Veolia but will cause a heavy NW’ly swell over the whole of the NE Atlantic.
Brit Air will have to wait another day to pick up the disturbed flow and accelerate again. Further south, Roxy and Safran are sailing in the NE’ly trade winds in heavy seas. That will soon be the case for Pindar and Aviva too, when they get out of the Doldrums in 24-48 hours time.
Akena is sailing in similar conditions to those experienced by Safran a few days ago along the coast of Brazil in variable light winds. Toe in the Water is sailing upwind in northerlies the edge of a powerful thunder low stretching from the north of Argentina to Rio. This huge system is moving southwards and will reach Great American III in the next few days.
For the two remaining in the Pacific approaching Cape Horn at the end of a disturbed flow, a ridge of high pressure is creeping up on them from the west and they may even face calms as they make their way into the Atlantic.
