Final approaches

The cold front, which will be reaching the coast of France this evening has passed over Marc Guillemot and Sam Davies. They both gybed, and this may be their final manoeuvre before the finish on the port tack to Les Sables in a north-westerly wind that is set to ease off.
The high is building to the west of Portugal and a ridge will be developing to the north, meaning Pindar and Aviva will have to go right around the high blocking their path.
A few hours of light airs ahead for Akena from tomorrow as she reaches a flat low, before entering the trough south of the Azores on Wednesday. Steve White and Rich Wilson are sailing upwind but not in the same hemisphere. Both are slamming and progressing slowly but there is no alternative.
After the low that generated 40-45 knots of wind, the tail-enders will face a high-pressure system with calmer seas, but also slower speeds.
