A high settling over the Bay of Biscay
Weather
February 11. 2009After a few violent low-pressure systems, the Bay of Biscay is being taken over by a high. This will not entirely suit the next lot of competitors approaching Les Sables d'Olonne.
It will be in light winds, which will be variable in direction that they will finish this Vendée Globe.
Roxy is due to reach Les Sables this weekend in a light easterly with Safran, Pindar and Aviva, expected early next week, still in light airs!
Akena is battling it out in light conditions making it tricky to head back, although there is still a long way to go to les Sables.
The tail-enders are affected by a thundery low with 30-40 knot northerlies, which are sometimes violent with gusts up to 60 knots, particularly for Norbert, making the South Atlantic very difficult.
