Start of the race

Philippe de Villiers, President of the Vendée Council and organiser of the Vendée Globe presented the line-up for the 2008-2009 Vendée Globe at a conference in La Roche sur Yon in Western France on the 2nd of July. It was in fact on the 1st of July, at midnight that the list of entrants for the Vendée Globe was definitively established.
