With 498.80 miles covered in 24 hours - between 4AM (UTC) yesterday and 4AM (UTC) today - the Virbac Paprec 3 skipper is not only leading the race now, but he has also beaten the single-handed speed record on an Open 60 monohull. Alex Thomson had been holding that record since 2003, with 468.72 miles.

The performance now has to be validated by the WSSRC (World Sailing Speed Record Council).
