Eoliennes en mer Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier, official Renewable Energy partner of the Vendée Globe 2016 Edition.
Supporting one of the most iconic ocean races, Eoliennes en mer Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier, as a local actor of marine renewable energy and energy transition in Vendée, confirms its commitment and determination to establish its project in the Vendée area.
On the occasion of this race, Eoliennes en mer Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier will be present with its shareholders Engie, EDPR and Groupe Caisse des Dépôts, on the Vendée Globe Village and then at the PC Race for the duration of the trial.
Eoliennes en mer Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier teams will be happy to meet the public in order to present the offshore wind farm project, its characteristics, its role in the energy transition, its challenges and its benefits for the Vendée area.
Designated in June 2014 for the public tender comprising the construction, installation and operation of an offshore wind farm off the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier, Eoliennes en mer Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier has for shareholders Engie, (47%), EDP Renewables (43%) and Groupe Caisse des Dépôts (10%). The project involves the installation of 62 wind turbines with a unit capacity of 8 MW. With a total installed capacity of 496 MW, the park is expected to produce on average 1900 GWh per year, which represents the annual electricity consumption of about 790 000 people, more than the entire population of Vendée.
