New environmental standards
New qualification rules
Two conditions
First condition
First condition
Each skipper must complete at least one solo Grade 2 race on the boat he will sail in the Vendée Globe, in a time not exceeding 2 times that of the winner
Second condition
Be among the top 37 in the championship
- Race ranking X
- Race grade X
- race format (single-handed, double-handed, crewed) = XX points
For the establishment of the final ranking, the lowest results will be discarded: only the 9 best performances in Grade 1, 2, and 3 races will be taken into account. However, the results of Grade 4 races will all be counted and cannot be discarded.
This mechanism offers greater flexibility in terms of scheduling and individual requirements: in this way, it will enable a sailor to temporarily leave the circuit for technical, personal, medical or project-related reasons without being penalised.
