The entire Vendée Globe community, its skippers and the whole IMOCA fleet will be there to pay one last salute to the man who will go down as the great winner of the 2024-2025 edition. Many of them — friends, racing companions and rivals out on the ocean — were determined to take part in this grand parade, for a day that reflects who they are: united, fraternal and centred on the sea.
From 4:00 pm, an impressive fleet will bring the Bay of Concarneau to life: Ultims, IMOCAs, Figaros, Class40s, Mini 6.50s, wingfoils, pleasure boats and local fishing boats will sail together, escorted by the SNSM, a French Navy vessel and the Abeille Bretagne. The highlight of the day: rather than a minute's silence, a "minute of noise" will ring out across the water, with foghorns, sirens and applause answering one another, while the entire fleet lets off colored flares in unison. The sky will join the tribute with a flypast by a Rafale fighter jet and a French Navy ATL2 maritime patrol aircraft, before a daytime fireworks display brings the scene to a close.
Access will be free and open to all, with a giant screen set up on the Corniche to follow the parade live, in a lively atmosphere with music and a DJ.
