The wind conditions should be unstable for the two leaders until the finish in Les Sables d'Olonne while the rest of the fleet has good sailing conditions today.
© Great CircleThe situation at the moment matches the forecasts for the leaders. Banque Populaire VIII should slow down in the ridge of high pressure during the day while Hugo Boss should have a little more wind for a few hours. From this evening, both competitors will have the same conditions, that is 10 to 15 knots from the south east. The wind will shift to the north-east on Wednesday. It will then be necessary to choose the tacking point before coming back to Les Sables d’Olonne on a long port tack.
Sailing in a ridge of high pressure is always complicated. The wind is irregular both in speed and direction. The last beat towards Les Sable d’Olonne will not be any easier with a north-easterly wind which is also unstable and very cold. Both skippers will have to fight and adapt permanently to the variations of wind not to see their boat stop.
The rest of the competitors have good sailing conditions. Only Conrad Colman and Sébastien Destremau have to fight in light winds for a few more hours. For Jean-Pierre © Great CircleDick, things should improve today.
