Louis Duc's First Step Toward 2028

Louis Duc’s Vendée Globe 2028 project is taking shape! The skipper from Normandy has chosen to continue his adventure aboard Phil Sharp’s former IMOCA, a Manuard-built foiler launched in 2023.

This acquisition marks a major first step in his preparations for the solo round-the-world race. The IMOCA will soon be heading to the V1D2 shipyard in Normandy to undergo technical refurbishment and the necessary modifications, particularly to the power generation system.

True to his philosophy of ‘doing a lot with a little’, Louis Duc is pursuing a sporting and personal project based on simplicity, performance and a desire to return to the open sea.

I’m incredibly keen to get this programme off the ground and to sail on a boat like this. And I’m definitely keen to return to the Vendée Globe!

Crowdlending to kick-start the project

The initial refit work on the boat will begin in the coming weeks. To fund this crucial phase of the project, Louis Duc and his partners will be using a crowdlending scheme.

This approach was previously tried and tested during his last Vendée Globe campaign, to fund the repairs to his former IMOCA. This solution helped to bring together a community of committed individuals behind the project.
