YES, it has been a month now that you (and us) have embarked for this exciting virtual race around the world that still attracts lots of new players everyday. It has been a month during which we’ve tried to move this boat forward across anticyclones, through the complex doldrums, along a forbidden line, and in the same time controlling the opponents with a more or less clear strategy. Sailing along with you since the beginning in les Sable d’Olonne, VR News has been lucky enough to be overflown by the virtual Navy. A close encounter of a third kind as shows the above picture. This Vendée Globe is far to be a single-handed adventure for us, as, thanks to our boat, almost 500 of you do daily leave messages to share your adventure, your joys, your thoughts and some comments. This unique nautical mailbox is a link between us, out of which we, from time to time, extract the “Sailors’ words”. We’re also happy to share the journey with some virtual skippers, like Camille (15 y.o), who is on the same route as VR News since the start in les Sables D’Olonne. Ranked 34,338th,VR News keeps on moving forward across the Indian Ocean, still hoping to gain more places and meet skippers with nice stories.
Meanwhile, at the race lead
Tranquil and trusting his choices, Leszek2011, aka Leszek Chmielewski, whom we’ve interviewed the day before he seized the lead, is a very cool man. Although he tells that he does not communicate a lot with his opponents, Leszek is certainly looking back in his mirror, watching particularly Istishia’s route, much further north; in the next hours and days she will benefit of a slightly better wind angle to come down back on the leading pack. The Southern Ocean weather is not as simple as it looks and the transition phases between the lows will undoubtedly be the scene for some strategic attempts.
Leszek2011 is therefore still leading the fleet ahead of Danrus2012 and laissebeton TPN. The leader’s trio is enjoying exceptional conditions. They’re sailing at more than 20kts in a wind of 30 kts or so. The miles are quickly engulfed and Cape Leeuwin, the next important mark, is hastily getting closer.
Provisory general ranking
1 – Leszek2011 – 14 571,8 NM to Finish
2 – danrus2012 – 14 576,6 NM to Finish
3 – laissebeton TPN – 14 579,6 NM to Finish
If you happen to pass by the VR news boat, do not hesitate to leave a message; this vessel is the link between the players and the editors. As we already have told, the huge success of the boat does not allow us to answer all your questions. As news go by, we’ll bring you some solutions, advises, answers, and all this kind of things…
Thanks to you all for your messages.
