A Dozen Newly Qualified Skippers

Following the Transat Jacques Vabre several aspiring Vendee Globe skippers took advantage of the return delivery passage back across the Atlantic to complete the 2000 miles solo passage required to validate their qualification. The rules specify that a two handed Transatlantic needs to be complemented by a solo 2000 miles approved passage.

And so Jérémie Beyou (Charal), Charlie Dalin (APIVIA), Clarisse Crémer (Banque Populaire), Kevin Escoffier (PRB), Thomas Ruyant (Advens for Cybersecurity) and Benjamin Dutreux (Water Family) sailed the return passage alone to validate their Vendee Globe qualification.

Other skippers who logged required miles on the Bermuda 1000 Race, validated their entry by finishing the Transat Jacques Vabre. Also qualified now are Maxime Sorel (V and B - Mayenne), Pip Hare (Pip Hare Ocean Racing), Miranda Merron (Campagne de France), Giancarlo Pedote (Prysmian Group), Yannick Bestaven (Maitre CoQ) and Samantha Davies (Initiatives Coeur) .
